Mendip Rail, the joint venture company formed between Aggregate Industries and Hanson has become the first employer organisation to be awarded the status of ‘Accredited Training Provider’ by the National Skills Academy for Materials, Production and Supply.
At the Proskills Annual Awards ceremony dinner at the Alton Towers Hotel, Hefin Jones, Training and Competency Manager (Operations), received the award on behalf of Aggregate Industries. Hefin has worked with Proskills who are the Sector Skills Council representing the Extractives and Mineral Processing Industries in gaining ‘Accredited Training Provider’ status for Mendip Rail which is part of the Aggregate Trading division of Aggregate Industries.
This accredited training status allows the delivery of a new Rail Safety Awareness (RSA) training course for trackside operatives throughout our rail freight network. The RSA employer led training course has been developed and is being delivered by Dean Pitman, who is Safety and Operations Manager at Mendip Rail, and Colin Ellis who is Rail Manager for Midland Rail, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aggregate Industries.
To date some 170 Aggregate Industries, Days, Rail Freight Services and Hanson employees have completed the RSA training course which is fundamental in demonstrating employee competence within the Aggregate Trading division.
