Manor Farm Quarry, Kempsford

A planning application was submitted to Gloucestershire County Council in December 2013 for a 3.2 million tonne extension to Manor Farm sand and gravel quarry situated between Kempsford and Whelford villages and to the south of RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.

Our application seeks to extend the life of the quarry to approximately 2030. The majority of sand and gravel produced at Manor Farm Quarry is taken to North End Works, near Ashton Keynes where it is used to manufacture concrete products. Extension of the Quarry will safeguard 6 jobs at the Quarry and around 120 jobs at North End Works for the foreseeable future.

The extension area would be worked in phases with exhausted areas of the quarry being progressively restored to agriculture and species rich grassland by infilling to original ground level.

The application can be viewed on Gloucestershire County Council’s website

The planning application comprises a number of documents, all of which are available on Gloucestershire County Council’s website. Here are links to the main documents:

All the technical reports which accompany the Environmental Impact Assessment are also available on Gloucestershire’s website. If you would like to contact us regarding this application, please complete our feedback form.
