Ref: Submission
Aggregate Industries has submitted a planning application to Somerset County Council to extend the life of Torr Quarry by deepening the existing quarry within the currently permitted area.
The submission follows a twelve month consultation process which has seen the company liaise with members of the public, interest groups and authorities regarding the plans.
David Cole, Area Director – South at Aggregate Industries said: “The deepening of the quarry will allow Aggregate Industries to continue to supply large volumes of construction aggregates both locally and to other areas including London and the South West from this nationally important rail linked site. The planning application, if approved, will safeguard the jobs of over 100 employees at the company together with further jobs within related industries”
