Jo Davis

In 2003 I completed a placement year at Aggregate Industries as part of my 4 year BSc in Business Information Technology at University of Central Lancashire. I spent the year as an IT Trainer with the HR Department and Aggregate Industries sponsored me in my final year at university along with guaranteeing me a job after graduation.

My placement year gave me a glimpse into the company and whether it would be right for me along with trying out my preferred job role before taking a full time position. Knowing I had a job allowed me to really concentrate on my final year of studies too.

I joined the company full time in August of 2004 as a Training Officer, this role was varied and gave me the opportunity to deliver management training and meet a variety of different people from a cross section of the business. I was given responsibility early on and the chance to learn and develop. I was part of the Personal Development Group (PDG) which included completing a Management Diploma. In 2008 I completed my Postgraduate HR qualification, CiPD which the company sponsored.

In February 2009 I was promoted to Manager of Process Improvement - Hire to Retire. This is a brand new role, where I am responsible for improving the processes that affect our people during their working life. For example, how well and consistently do we induct new starters and welcome them to our business? How well and often we conduct full and meaningful appraisals with all employees? This role is challenging and no two days are the same, I work with a varied group of people, from HR and Payroll to operational and commercial teams.

I enjoy working for a company which is focused on developing people within the business and supporting you every step of the way.
