  • One of the key objectives was to reduce the overall impact of the hotel on the surrounding area
  • Bradstone products were considered to be the most suitable in meeting strict aesthetic and functional specification criteria
  • High quality sustainable finishes desired.

Brief

Local planning officers backed the application to build a 19-bed extension to the Premier Travel Inn at the Anchor Inn, Gargrave. Officials recommended the scheme to be originally approved at Craven District Council's planning committee meeting, but a comprehensive landscaping proposal had to accompany the application in an effort to reduce the overall impact of the hotel on the surrounding area. Primarily, this included the choice and restriction of building materials used and Bradstone products were considered by far the most desirable products in meeting the strict conditions imposed.

The project was therefore specified and completed using Bradstone Square Dressed walling and Bradstone Old Quarried roofing slates.

Solution

Bradstone Square Dressed walling captures the rugged style of quarried dressed walling stone, common to many regions. It also offers architects an interesting alternative to other cladding such as brick or render in non-stone localities, where it can be used to build whole structures or simply to create a feature. Bradstone Square Dressed walling offers a variety of sizes which enables the product to be laid coursed, brought to course or random.

Bradstone Old Quarried roofing slates are a highly acceptable reconstructed stone alternative to natural stone slates. A simple range of diminishing courses, Old Quarried roofing have random widths which gave the finished roof the heavy stone appearance it sought.
