Carbon management award for Express Asphalt

Aggregate Industries achieved success in the Lancashire Business Environment Awards 2010, with Express Asphalt winning the prestigious 'Carbon Management for Large Companies' category award. The win was against some stiff competition including entries from Crown Paints and Senator International.

The plant at Darwen was successful in securing the award due to their efforts for energy saving projects carried out by Plant Manager Rick Harbour and his team, along with the assistance of Rick Hinde of Invertech Solutions. Between them the teams have successfully driven down electricity costs by 75% and achieved a 50,000kg reduction in the amount of CO2 produced per annum.
