Heathrow asphalt celebrates one million tonnes

The staff and management of Aggregate Industries’ Asphalt plant, based off the Colnbrook by-pass, have today celebrated the passing of a significant milestone.

The one millionth tonne of material manufactured at the site was dispatched from the site in December 2016 and laid near Junction 12 of the M4 motorway.

The site, which opened in May 2014, is the newest of all of Aggregate Industries’ asphalt operations across the UK. It enjoys unparalleled access to West London and the surrounding area, being situated close to the junction of the M4 and M25. The site was also recently featured on the BBC’s Today Programme for its market leading energy management.

Managing Director Chris Hudson attended the celebration to congratulate the staff and management of the site. Speaking after the event, Chris said: “To have reached the one million tonne milestone such a short time after opening the gates is a fantastic achievement. It is a testament to the hard work of my colleagues at Heathrow that our customers continue to trust us to deliver the high quality, sustainable products that they need.”

Site Manager, John Smith, added: “We are so pleased to have reached this point in the life of the site and I couldn’t be prouder of the team on site for all of their hard work. We are proud of the products and services we provide here and can’t wait to get to two million tonnes in the near future!”
