Bradstone scoops 'Best in Show' at the Chelsea Flower
Show
Bradstone has wowed the judges and scooped the
top title of ‘Best in Show’ at the Chelsea Flower Show with a
stunning garden that was quite literally out of this world!
Representing a terrestrial space garden on
Mars, ‘600 Days With Bradstone’, designed by Sarah Eberle, took its
inspiration from a new era in scientific thinking.
The garden investigates how an astronaut would
enrich their life when off duty, considering the plants they would
grow to enhance their existence and to contribute to life support
systems. It also explores how such an area can contribute to
the psychological welfare of an individual who is away from home
and familiar surroundings.
Sarah says, “I am delighted to have been
awarded ‘Best in Show’. A lot of hard work and effort has
gone into creating this garden – not to mention years of
research!
“Words cannot describe the feeling I get
seeing the designs brought to life for everyone to enjoy.”
Bill Bolsover, Group Chief Executive of
Aggregate Industries, Bradstone’s parent company, says, "Winning
the Gold Medal and Best in Show at Chelsea for Sarah Eberle and her
wonderful 600 Days with Bradstone garden is fantastic news.
"It is the most powerful tribute and accolade
anyone could pay to the teams of people across Aggregate Industries
from the quarry operatives to the development team, factory workers
and truck drivers, who worked together to make this garden
perfect.
"We are indebted to Sarah for bringing us such
an original garden concept to challenge our ingenuity and showcase
both the versatility of our products and our design
creativity."
Ian Wright from Bradstone adds, “The Chelsea
Flower Show is always a fantastic experience, but winning ‘Best in
Show’ has been the icing on the cake. Sarah has put so much
time and effort into this garden and it is great that all her hard
work has been recognised.”
