Aggregate Industries Recognises Excellence at the Civic
Trust Awards
Aggregate Industries was again delighted to be represented at
the Civic Trust’s 49th Annual awards held in the splendid settings
of Blackpool Winter Gardens. The event is seen as one of the
keystones of Aggregate Industries support of sustainable
construction and buildings and landscapes that create a sense of
well-being for those who experience them. The Civic Trust rewards
those projects that exhibit these characteristics.
Around 300 architects, designers, and representatives of the
candidate projects attended the event to see over 60 schemes
receive a mention, commendation or award.
Aggregate Industries sponsored the Sustainability Award, which
was presented to the winning project, Heelis, the new central
office for the National Trust, by Bill Bolsover - Group Chief
Executive.
Commercial specialist Charcon sponsors the Hard Landscaping
Award, which this year was won by Clydebank Public realm for their
Phase 1 regeneration of an area given a new lease of life.
Guests enjoyed afternoon activities, which included a tour of
Blackpool’s architecture by vintage bus, and a symposium which
discussed key issues affecting the built environment. Sir Peter
Hall, Stephen Dunmore (Big Lottery Fund), Dr Gareth Potts (BURA)
and Paul Squires (The Civic Trust) debated the importance of people
in place making, as well as the future of seaside towns.
