Bardon Concrete discussed the customer's needs, allowing them to understand the requirements and provide a product that was able to dry quickly and required low construction noise

Key facts

Sector: Commercial
Client: Dandara
Contractor: Stephenson Construction
  • Low construction noise
  • Quick drying time
  • Good supply chain (7,000m3 delivered)

Brief

Glasgow Harbour is a 14 storey apartment development alongside the river Clyde west of Glasgow City Centre. This project was adjacent to existing occupied apartment dwellings. As a result, the contractor was mindful of airborne noise from the construction / concreting process.

Solution

Following initial discussions with Stephenson Construction; the concrete frame contractor,  Bardon Concrete Scotland proposed Cemflow H, a free flowing concrete that eliminated the need for vibration equipment and allowed immediate finishing of flatwork to an SR2 tolerance thereby removing the night time finishing process.

In total some 6,000m3 of flatwork and 1,000m3 of vertical concrete utilised the Cemflow technology. As a result the concreting process had little or no affect on the local residents.
