Key facts

Sector: Industrial
Client: North West Recycling
Contractor: North West Recycling

Brief

North West Recycling had purchased an existing warehousing facility which was to be converted to a recycling centre. As part of the project the roadways surrounding the warehouse needed upgrading. Traditionally steel wire fabric would have been used to control drying shrinkage and enhance structural performance of the slab cast on grade. To meet budgetary constraints Bardon Concrete were approached to evaluate the use of structural fibres in lieu of wire fabric.

Solution

Bardon Concrete supplied a macro structural plastic fibre concrete of S3 consistency.

Structural fibres eradicate the time and labour element associated with fabric placement.  Furthermore structural fibres remove the uncertainty of fabric location within the slab ensuring consistent performance. Using conventional placing techniques the concrete was placed and finished easily using minimal labour.
