Bardon Contracting has been awarded a prestigious Green Apple Award for its work on the recently completed A38 Glynn Valley contract on the Devon and Cornwall border.The award, which recognises ‘Environmental Best Practice’, will be presented to the company at the House of Commons on 10 November 2008, where top winners have the chance to represent the UK in the European Business Awards for the Environment.Bardon Contracting’s Glynn Valley project, carried out on behalf of the Highways Agency, involved significant earth works and road construction adjacent to a major river. To compliment this, Bardon sensitively managed a number of wildlife and habitat issues.Jim Appleby, Commercial Manager for Bardon Contracting, commented: “As part of Aggregate Industries, Bardon is committed to working sustainably in every contract we undertake.
