Aggregate Industries UK
Aggregate Industries operates businesses within the UK, Channel
Islands and northern Europe under three divisions;
Aggregate Products UK, Building Materials and Cementitious
Materials. The company is a leading supplier of aggregates and
construction and building materials to the construction industry.
In the UK it is the fourth largest aggregates producer, the second
largest asphalt producer, the fourth largest ready-mixed concrete
producer, a leading manufacturer of pre-cast concrete products and
a major surfacing and civil engineering contractor.
Through acquisition of Foster Yeoman Limited in 2006, Aggregate
Industries now has additional sites in northern Europe in Poland,
France and Germany.
Total turnover in 2006 was £1,176 million (2005: £991 million) and
sales volumes were:
Aggregates 32.1 tonnes (2005: 29.1m tonnes)
Asphalt 6.0 tonnes (2005: 5.5m tonnes)
Ready-mixed concrete 2.8 m³ (2005 2.6m tonnes)
Precast concrete 3.3 m tonnes (3.2, tonnes)
The Aggregate Products UK Division supplies a
wide and diverse range of value-added and innovative products and
services into the construction market from primary, secondary and
recycled aggregates through to asphalt, ready-mixed concrete and
contracting services through a number of branded businesses. These
include Bardon Aggregates, Yeoman Asphalt, Yeoman Glensanda,
Express Asphalt, Bardon Concrete, London Concrete, Elite Mini-mix,
Garside Sands, Bardon Contracting and associated businesses.
In northern Europe, Aggregate Industries manages the production
and transportation of its aggregate products through Yeoman Poland,
Yeoman France and in Germany – Yeoman Baumineralien.
The Building Materials Division supplies
pre-cast concrete products to the commercial and domestic markets
including hard landscaping solutions, block and beam flooring,
stairs, building blocks, pre-cast concrete and natural stone garden
products and bespoke concrete products for specific
applications.
The Cementitious Materials Division imports
cement into the UK via Paragon Materials through four terminals, as
well as recycling power station fly ash for use as a cement
substitute through its Ash Soloutions business. The division also
operates two Bitumen plants.
