Hello

Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS). GGBS is a by-product slag material from the iron and steel industry, which substitutes cement to significantly reduce the carbon content per tonne of concrete products.

Enhanced workability of concrete

A fine powder by-product that can replace a proportion of cement within concrete mixes. GGBS provides better workability, making placing and compacting easier.  With considerable sustainabilty benefits, GGSB also lowers early-age temperature rise, reducing the risk of thermal cracking in large pours.

Enhanced chemical resistance

In addition to the environmental advantage, concretes incorporating slag have greatly enhanced chemical resistance particularly to chlorides and sulfates and are especially advantageous in a marine environment, resistance to Alkali Silica Reaction (ASR) is also enhanced.

The GGBS supplied by Aggregate Industries is produced by Holcim in Bremen, Germany to BS EN 15167-1:2006
