Some of the ways in which we can help:

1. Structural solutions
We are a concrete specialist and supplies both readymix concrete and precast concrete products. Our structural engineers, architects and sustainability advisors can work with our customers and their professional advisors to find the most efficient or appropriate concrete frame for any project.

We will usually analyse around 15 different solutions in concrete and compare them for cost and programme before reporting back to the customers’ own structural engineer who will then make the ultimate decision.

2. Choice of concrete – our concrete mixer desk
We have devised a software programme with BRE which can compare the carbon footprint, Ecopoint score and likely Green Guide Rating of different concrete mixes, all of which can achieve the same strength.  By altering the proportions of different constituent parts of the concrete mix on-screen, we can use the software to help clients to choose the most sustainable concrete for their purposes.  We are also able to give advice on the likely Green Guide scores in BREEAM methodologies including the Code for Sustainable Homes for our concrete based elements.

3. Responsible sourcing
In March 2009, we became the first UK manufacturing company of any material to be awarded the Certificate for Responsible Sourcing under BES6001 by BRE. This means that by simply using a concrete or asphalt made by us, you can achieve extra points in BREEAM methodologies including the Code for Sustainable Homes.

4. Construction process
Our architects are able to work with your professional teams to look at the cost and programme implications of using our innovations or products to streamline and value engineer the building process, eg by using our precast cladding – often with brickwork or other external facings applied – to eliminate scaffolding, or using precast coffered ceilings to eliminate suspended ceilings and make use of concrete’s inherent thermal mass, , etc.  They are also able to critically examine the different ways of achieving the same end result, eg of achieving Sustainable Urban Drainage (SUDS) by using our block paving, or our porous concrete, or our porous asphalt.
