Support for ALSF projects

In Natural England's recently published 'Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund - celebrating success', we not only had a case study published, but also is directly highlighted for its involvement with projects totalling £686,609 which have directly benefitted the communities around our sites. We have also worked alongside other funded projects which received £310,405.

Our community plan helps our sites to structure how we engage with our neighbours, but quite often we are approached by local community groups who already have an idea and just need the funds to kick it off the ground. In November 2009, the events and education officer of the Cotswold Water Park contacted Aggregate Industries to support their ALSF funded programme.

Part of the grant conditions mean that the Cotswold Water Park Society must show an income against its programme, so they planned to make a charge to schools using the facilities.

The Gravel is Great programme, launched in February 2010 with local businesses including Aggregate Industries, sponsors the visits into local schools thereby minimising their costs. This ensures as many primary pupils as possible have the opportunity to learn more about the archaeology and geology of their region. A videoespecially created for the programme also included footage of Aggregate Industries' extraction sites in the area.
