We are working with partners Natural England and the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust have helped deliver further key elements of an ambitious Charnwood Forest Living Landscape project to conserve and enhance the unique wildlife, geology and character of this special area.
Wildlife needs the space and resources necessary to thrive and must have the opportunity to move into new areas in order to be able to adapt to changing conditions in the future. Living Landscapes represents a bold vision to restore, recreate and reconnect fragmented habitats to form a resilient and healthy environment that is highly valued and accessible for people, full of wildlife and rich in opportunities for learning, health and wellbeing. This will require new ideas and innovative approaches.
Work carried out by the partners included producing a draft Integrated Habitat Survey map of the core project area, facilitating biological recording by local naturalists and promoting the project within local groups and organisations. In addition, management advice and assistance is given to local landowners to increase biodiversity.
