The 5th International Holcim Awards competition is now open for entries on with a total prize fund of USD 2 million.
Twlve years after inception, the LafargeHolcim Awards has reached a high level of global awareness. The awards are frequently perceived as a highlight in the sustainable development agenda and ranks amongst the top competitions for building and construction.
The competition seeks projects that demonstrate an ability to stretch conventional notions about sustainable building and also balance environmental, social and economic performance - while also emplifying architectural excellence and a high degree of transferability. Implementation of the project may not have started before July 4, 2016.
Two stage competition
- Stage 1: Projects are sought in five world regions (Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa Middle East and Asia Pacific.
- Stage 2: The 15 projects that receive LafargeHolcim Awards Gold, Silver or Bronze in each region then qualify for the Global Holcim Awards competition. A global jury then awards Gold , Silver and Bronze prizes.
Two categories available
- Main category: This category is open to architects, planners, engineers, project owners, builders and construction firms to showcase sustainable responses to technological, environmental, socioeconomic and cultural issues affective contemporary building and construction.
- “Next Generation” category: This category is open to young professionals and university students.
