James joined Aggregate Industries on April 4, 2011 as General Counsel from law firm Pinsent Masons LLP, where he was Director of Energy and Infrastructure based in their London office.
He joined the Executive Committee on 1 July 2011 with specific responsibility for the management of the Company's UK and European legal, compliance, secretarial and insurance issues. He is also responsible for the planning and estates and geological services teams.
Prior to joining Pinsent Masons, James was Senior Counsel with National Grid plc for eight years where he was responsible for providing legal advice and services to the UK businesses. More latterly he spent two years working at the group's corporate centre in the strategy and business development teams, supporting and advising on initiatives to promote both the organic and inorganic growth of the company's businesses in the UK and US.
Before working for National Grid, James spent six years practising at the Bar representing corporate clients at the High Court, Commercial Court and Court of Appeal. He was called to the Bar by Lincoln's Inn in 1994 and is also a CEDR accredited mediator.
