Merseyside Search and Rescue (MerSAR) is delighted to have received a donation of £1,000 from Aggregate Industries, a leading player in the construction and infrastructure industries, towards essential team equipment.

As Charity Secretary Paul Hutchings explained: “MerSAR is a Registered Charity and as such relies entirely on donations to continue searching for high risk, vulnerable missing people. As the recognised land search asset for the county we are available to be deployed by Merseyside Police 24 hours a day.”

Merseyside spans 249 square miles (645 square kilometres) of land. Overwhelmingly, the land use is urban but Merseyside also has a combination of flood plains, forests, fields, country parks, rivers and lakes, for which the team frequently train to deal with and work in or around.

The donation will contribute towards vital medical equipment to treat hypothermic casualties.

In the local area Roger Tart, Manager - Aggregates North at Aggregate Industries, comments: "We are pleased to be able to support such a worthy cause and hope the donation can make a real difference to the lifesaving work the team does on a daily basis.
