The objective of the Heroes of Leicestershire Awards, run by the Leicester Mercury newspaper, is to celebrate and honour achievements of remarkable people who make Leicestershire a better place.

Donna Hunt, Head of Sustainability at Aggregate Industries, commented: “Our company is committed to the social and economic development of the communities in which we operate, so the Community Building Award has a particular resonance with all of us at Aggregate Industries. It demonstrates the fact that a building is so much more than just bricks and mortar - that a building itself can play a crucial role in bringing people together, supporting stronger communities and neighbourliness, and maintaining local links that are vital to the wellbeing of society in this modern era.”

Last year’s Community Building Award finalists were the Cotesbach Education Trust and The Pakistan Youth & Community Association, and the winner was the Hermitage FM Coffee Lounge.

This year’s awards event will be held on Thursday 19th July 2018 at the King Power Stadium.
