Aggregate Industries have been able to work closely with the customer to ensure the project materials are supplied effectively and with minimal impact on the local community and workforce.

So far three phases of the Minimetro in Copenhagen have been completed. Dansk Natursten has supplied various customers with the concrete aggregates, rail ballast and gabion stone used in the construction project.

The fourth and final phase of the Minimetro will be constructed between 2010 and 2015. As part of Dansk Natursten’s commitment to the environment, customers are supplied with washed rail ballast which is delivered wet. This minimises the impact of dust on rail workers and the surrounding area. Railwagons are also loaded directly in the harbours, ballast is not transported by trucks in order to reduce CO2 emissions. The gabion stones are placed for safety along the tracks and to reduce noise for the people living close to the railway.
