A team of 16 from Aggregate Industries, a leading player in the construction and infrastructure industries, is taking on the 50 mile DougieMac Challenger Cycle Route on 20th May 2018 in memory of their colleague, Karl Payne, who was the Midlands Regional Operations Manager for Readymix.

Dean Benton, Readymix Area Operations Manager at Aggregate Industries, comments: “Sadly, last year we lost our friend and colleague, Karl, who was taking part in this bike ride and tragically lost his life before he could finish. This year, we want to complete the ride that he started in his memory to raise much needed funds for Douglas Macmillan Hospice, a specialist palliative care provider in North Staffordshire for adults, the majority of whom are affected by cancer.”

The team from Aggregate Industries’ Readymix division is currently training hard to complete the 50 mile course, as the majority are non-cyclists.

The challenging cycle route passes up into the Peaks, climbing to the village of Flash, which is recorded as the highest village in Britain at 1,518 feet above sea level. The team will then make its way back through Macclesfield before returning to Port Vale FC.
