Aggregate Industries has recently been involved with the Housing Forum's technical panel in helping to prepare details of a new report on the application of information-age digital technologies within the new build housing market, with the potential to improve the quality and value of housing by harnessing consumer pull. A system of Home Performance Labelling is proposed to kick-start the process.
The report discusses the influence that the information revolution has had in transforming consumer products, services and markets the world over. It confirms that ready access to digital information on a mass scale now drives everything from restaurant reviews to political uprisings and claims that housing cannot and should not be immune to these changes. The report's view is that consumers should be much better informed about the implications of their choices before making major purchasing decisions and that the technology is already available that can provide and make information more consumer friendly.
