Mr Shuker, who has been MP for Luton South since 2010, visited the site off Cosgrove Way recently to meet the asphalt production team and learn more about the company’s pioneering Express Asphalt service.
Designed to make the process of asphalt supply much simpler and quicker, the offering includes a ‘click and collect’ service with a guaranteed turnaround of 30 minutes for single loads of standard products, which enables busy customers to order asphalt, or tools and equipment, and pick it up from any one of the business’ 41 Express Asphalt depots nationwide.
As part of the visit, Mr Shuker was given an exclusive tour of the Luton site. The highly-successful visit also involved an engaging discussion between Mr Shuker and key Aggregate Industries’ staff such as Gary Walsh, Express Asphalt South East Area Manager, on important issues including sustainability, the use of recycled asphalt and the exciting projects in the pipeline for Luton.
Gary Walsh, Express Asphalt South East Area Manager, said: “Luton is a growing hotbed for industry and a fantastic town for families to thrive. The visit was a good opportunity for us to discuss with Mr Shuker how improving and maintaining our local roads plays a vital role in that continuing, and how our innovative Express Asphalt offering is leading the way in providing high-quality and efficient asphalt supply essential to do that.”
Mr Shuker added: “Having a robust, first-class local road network is essential to the local community and surrounding businesses alike, especially when it comes to boosting economic activity. As such, I’d like to say thank you to Aggregate Industries for inviting me to visit their Luton Express Asphalt site, which clearly plays a vital role in helping to improve and maintain our local roads.”
