Having taken place on 17th November at The Brewery in Central London, the Landscape Institute Awards recognise outstanding examples of work by the landscape profession.
As a corporate sponsor of the Landscape Institute for many years, We have supported the annual awards ceremony again in 2011, where Paul Childs, Our Regional Sales Manager, presented the ‘Design over 5ha’ trophy to the winning entry submitted by The Environment Partnership (TEP) Limited. The successful scheme is an expansion of community woodland adjacent to Delamere Forest in Cheshire.
The project was part of the Forestry Commission’s shift in focus from productive forestry in rural areas toward community woodlands on the urban fringe. It demonstrates the application of environmental assessment techniques to the design of a large-scale community woodland. This process resulted in a continuously-evolving recreational resource, which complements its historic and present-day landscape context. Delamere previously attracted 200,000 annual visitors - numbers have now risen to 750,000 as a result of this and other public and private-sector investments.
Tim Smit KBE, Chief Executive and co-founder of the Eden Project, Cornwall is shown hosting the awards.
