The Ministry of Defence (MOD) accolade, which was announced by Defence Minister Leo Docherty today (July 16 2021), represents the highest badge of honour and is awarded to businesses that employ and support those that serve, as well as veterans and their families.

The award acknowledges that Aggregate Industries demonstrates its forces-friendly credentials as part of its recruitment process, and that it ensures its wider workforce is aware of the positive policies for defence personnel. The award also acknowledges that Aggregate Industries provides 10 extra paid days leave for Reservist employees, and has supportive HR policies in place for veterans, Reserves, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and the spouses/partners of those serving in the Armed Forces.

Dragan Maksimovic, CEO at Aggregate Industries, said: “As proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant, we are delighted to receive the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award for our commitment to the Armed Forces community. We are proud that our workforce includes reservists, veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and the spouses of those serving in the Armed Forces and are grateful for the invaluable experience, skills and expertise they bring to Aggregate Industries. We look forward to continuing our pledge to support them.”

Bruce Spencer, Regional Employer Engagement Director at the East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association, said: “Aggregate Industries is a worthy winner of the MOD’s Gold Award for employers as it has shown such widespread and deep support of our nation’s Armed Forces family. They should be very proud of this significant achievement.”
