Local building materials supplier launches bagged aggregates range from its Glensanda super quarry
Aggregate Industries announces the launch of a new bagged aggregates range comprising quality granite sourced from its super quarry in Glensanda.
Aggregates in the bagged range are available in a number of different sizes, from sand to sub base, including washed stone. These granite products are ideal for use in a number of applications, from concrete designs to decorative displays and features – making it the perfect option for home DIYers and professional garden landscapers.
The new products are now available for sale to the local market in West Scotland and can be purchased directly from Aggregate Industries’ neighbouring marine depot at Rhugh Garbh. A pre-order customer collection service is also available upon request, to help offer flexibility in meeting specific requirements and project demands.
The granite is packaged in tote bags made from durable, quality materials. Lifting tunnels are attached for forklift compatibility.
Stephen Dryden, Regional Director at Aggregate Industries, commented: “All the aggregates in our new bagged range come directly from our flagship quarry in Glensanda. Granite is crushed, washed, screened and packaged on site before being transported by barge to our neighbouring Rhugh Garbh marine depot.
“The largest granite quarry in Europe, our annual production capacity at Glensanda is in excess of nine million tonnes, which means we can ensure a consistent supply for our customers. When you buy from us, you buy locally and sustainably and in return, we guarantee high quality durable granite, providing a satisfying customer service experience.
About Glensanda
Glensanda is the flagship site of construction materials producer and supplier Aggregate Industries, and the largest granite quarry in Europe, exporting to markets all across Northern Europe since the mid-1980s. It has an annual production capacity in excess of 9 million tonnes and a massive 760 million tonnes reserve of granite.
Located on the banks of Loch Linnhe, Glensanda is a unique site, as it is only accessible by sea due to the surrounding rugged mountainous terrain. It is renowned for being one of the most efficient mineral extraction operations in the world, whereby granite is crushed at the top of the mountain, then fed into a hole taking the rock 300 metres down and out of sight into the core of the mountain, then through a 1.8km horizontal tunnel to the foreshore where the rock is washed, screened and stored ready for ship loading.
Providing, unrivalled year-round supply of consistently strong granite, in large volumes across a number of UK ports and Europe, Glensanda supplies a vast and varied portfolio of successful major contracts, specialising in complex coastal, onshore and offshore supplies. It has a dedicated, efficient supply chain team to meet customer demand, locally and internationally, through superior production capabilities, managed by a dedicated shipping fleet, on purpose built aggregate sea carriers.
