Brief
The provision of a new maintenance facility on the site of a 1930’s and Second World War airbase, since adapted for use as the home for the Royal Air Force’s Central Gliding School.
The majority of Defence Estates projects utilise DREAM, (Defence Related Environmental Assessment Methodology), designed to monitor, and minimise environmental impact, and a high points total was required.
Solution
Architects Templemann Design are specialists in working on Defence Estates projects, and in conjunction with Aggregate Insdustries were able to identify Enviroblock as the ideal product for this development. Our Enviroblock has a high recycled and secondary aggregate content, and is classified as A within the BRE Green Guide. The location of the plant at Croft, Leicestershire was also important as distance to site was also a measured criterion.
The smooth close texture of the paint grade block makes it suitable for internal aesthetic applications, and can be left unpainted as well as decorated.
